"Excellent fish and chips here, chips lovely and crisp with a fluffy middle and large cod was lovey and thick with crispy batter. Mushy peas excellent. Had to wait about 20 mins as was busy and I think my ticket was misplaced but staff apologized and it was worth the wait."

"Got to be one of the best fish and chips I've ever had in my life and certainly one of the best chippys in the area. Everything was delicious, batter was still crispy on the fish after a short drive home which I don't think I've ever had before from around here. The portions were also excellent I've not been this satisfied from fish and chips for years highly recommended you try it!"

Lovely staff too A+++ 2023 - ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! My first visit to this chip shop. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. And the chips taste amazing. Crispy on the outside and soft inside, just how chips should be. There was a short wait when I visited on a Friday evening but it was definitely worth the short wait. The chips were really lovely and tasted so fresh and the all steak pie was thoroughly hot and filled with a rich meat and gravy, very tasty. The staff were friendly and professional and the price was excellent. All in all a gem of a business and one in which I shall be returning to again and again. "We live 6/7 miles away and have so many local fish and chip shops around but we choose to travel to West Hallam Fryer due to the quality and how delicious the food is. Everything is cooked fresh, staff are super friendly and we haven't had a single bad meal from here in all the times we have ordered. Nothing is too much trouble and we return every week. Our personal highlights: The fish bites are amazing, full of fish unlike many other places we have tried that seem to be just batter and dried out fish. The chicken meat is always flavoursome and never dry. The battered halloumi is one of my partners favourites and the chips are always fresh. The batter itself just tastes so much better than anywhere else and is always so crisp, just as it's meant to be! And the portion sizes are rather generous compared to other places, we feel this place is great value for money! We look forward to our order every week. Well done!"
